Welcome to LOOKOUTDANES located atop Lookout Mountain in Northeast Alabama. We got our first Great Dane Jack Daniels, in 2004 and can’t imagine our lives or home without one, or more in our case. We had our first litter in 2005 with no clue as to what we were doing, but quickly learned the do‘s and don‘ts. After a good bit of research and some very hard lessons learned, we decided if we are going to do this, we are going to do it right. We got away from the CKC registered Great Danes and looked to the AKC registered Great Danes. And so our story begins…..

It all began with a simple phone call from a stranger, who is now a valued friend. With that one little phone call and what transpired after, our breeding program came to be. We were given a precious gift, her name was Gina and she would come to be the foundation of LOOKOUTDANES. Gina gave us two beautiful litters of Brindle and Fawn Great Dane puppies. We are so proud and honored to have two of Gina's daughters as part of our breeding program to carry on what she started.

All of our Danes that have reached the age of 2, have been or are being health tested, OFA (hips & elbows), Thyroid and Cardio. We breed for health & longevity, color purity, conformation, temperament and size according to AKC standards. We do not believe in breeding our females with every heat cycle, and our females will NEVER have more than 4 litters each (if that many), they will not be bred after they turn 6 years of age. Our Great Danes are first and foremost part of our family. All of our puppies are born and raised in our home and are well socialized. We do not place our retired Danes, they remain with us for the remainder of their lives.

As we said, we've made our fair share of mistakes, but have learned some very valuable lessons from them. We are striving not only to improve the Great Dane breed, but how we do things.
